WSOP Online 2026 & WCOOP 2026 Satellite Guide: Qualify Before the Fields Get Tough

The autumn calendar landed on 29 July, and it's unusually stacked. GGPoker and PokerStars have both confirmed their flagship festivals, and they overlap for most of September.

If you're reading this on publication day, the Main Event's first Day 1 flight is 48 hours away and the satellite lobbies are already running. The players who cash these series rarely buy in directly. They ladder in for a fraction of face value, weeks in advance, while the satellite fields are still soft.

Six weeks. 33 official WSOP gold bracelets. More than $69 million in guarantees, and — for scale — the 2025 edition paid out over $354 million across the wider festival schedule.

The Main Event structure is the whole opportunity. Nineteen separate Day 1 flights spread from 16 August to 20 September, all converging on one Day 2 on 21 September. That means five weeks of satellite windows into the same $25M prize pool — and unlike a live series, you can fire a cheap Day 1, bag, and come back. Last year's edition drew 5,961 entries for a $28.31M pool, so the $25M guarantee is a floor, not a ceiling.

This is the part players miss. GGPoker has attached three promotions to the series, and two of them pay out to people who never win anything:

• $3,000,000 Continental Flipouts. Players are split into four regions. When a bracelet is won, everyone in the winner's region gets entry into an exclusive flipout tournament straight after that event. Prize pools run up to $250,000. You qualify by being in the right region and playing — no deep run required.
• $1,000,000 Super Pass Bonus. Each of the 33 bracelet winners receives a $30,000 Super Pass, including direct entry to the WSOP Paradise Super Main Event in the Bahamas this December.
• $1,000,000 Ranking Freeroll. The top 10 countries on the final Bracelet Leaderboard unlock country-exclusive freerolls, with prize pools scaled to final position. If a top-10 nation is excluded for compliance reasons, the spot passes down the rankings.

Two final tables will be streamed on GGPoker.tv: the Main Event on 22 September (18:45 UTC) with Jeff Gross and Phil Hellmuth, and the GGMillion$ High Rollers on 29 September (18:45 UTC) with Jeff Gross and Alex Foxen.

GGPoker runs feeders around the clock during the series. The practical ladders:

• Direct satellites — multi-seat qualifiers straight into a Day 1 flight. Best value when the field is small relative to seats awarded.
• Step satellites — micro buy-in feeders that pay tickets to the next tier up. Slow, but the cheapest possible entry point, and each step is a soft field.
• Spin & Gold ticket variants — lottery SNGs where the top prize is a series ticket rather than cash. High variance, minimal commitment.
• Mission and leaderboard tickets — free entries earned through play you were doing anyway. Check the Ocean Rewards mission board before you buy anything.

Satellite rule that decides your ROI: in a satellite, all seats are worth the same. Chips above the seat threshold have almost no value. Once you're comfortably in, stop gambling — fold your way in and let the shorter stacks bust each other. Applying cash-game aggression to a bubble you've already cleared is the single most common way players burn satellite equity.

Series months are your highest-rake months of the year. That makes the rakeback layer worth more in August and September than at any other point on the calendar.

Ocean Rewards replaced Fish Buffet in early 2026: eight tiers, cashback running from roughly 16% up to 80%, with $1 in rake earning 100 Tide Points and Gems accumulating in parallel for redemption in the Gem Store.

One thing to understand before you grind: PVI (Player Value Index) is a hidden multiplier from 0.1 to 1.0 applied to your rake before rewards are calculated. At a PVI of 0.4, $1,000 of raw rake counts as $400. It's why the advertised percentage and the number that lands in your account differ — and why the exclusive layer on top is the part you control.

The World Championship of Online Poker has been running since 2002. This September is the 25th edition, and PokerStars is pairing it with the Sunday Million's 20th anniversary, carrying a $5,000,000 guarantee.

Confirmed: dates of 6–30 September. Not yet published: the full event schedule. Last year's WCOOP schedule dropped on 27 August — eleven days before the series opened — so expect the same window this time. Bookmark this page; we'll update when it lands.

What that means practically: satellite qualification opens before the schedule does. Phase 1 flights and feeder tickets go live in the lobby ahead of the full announcement, and the early satellites are consistently the softest of the series.

The WCOOP Boot Camp ran 2–17 August: 65 events across low (-L) and high (-H) buy-in tiers — 130 tournaments in total — with more than $6.5 million guaranteed and buy-ins from $2.20 to $1,050. Formats covered No-Limit Hold'em, Pot-Limit Omaha, H.O.R.S.E., No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw, 8-Game, progressive knockouts and mystery bounties, at full ring, six-max and heads-up, across regular, turbo and hyper structures.

That mix is deliberate: the Boot Camp is built to mirror the WCOOP schedule. Treat the Boot Camp lobby as a preview of the September format list, and use it to work out which variants you actually want to satellite into before the real thing.

PokerStars' cheapest entry mechanic is the phased satellite combined with Special Edition Spin & Go's starting at $0.75. In the 75-cent version, the winner-take-all prize is a $109 Phase 1 ticket 2,000 times out of a million; at $4, the odds of hitting the $109 ticket rise to 1.25%. Lesser prizes are satellite tickets at lower buy-in tiers.

Translation: a sub-$1 lottery SNG that ladders you toward three-figure entries. The EV isn't in any single spin — it's in treating them as a cheap, high-frequency ticket source alongside your regular satellite play.

PokerStars doesn't run a direct rakeback program. Returns come through the VIP Club chest system — 100 points per $1 in rake or tournament fee, six VIP levels, chests topping out at $1,000 for Platinum — which works out to up to around 30% effective return. The welcome bonus is a 100% match up to $600 across your first three deposits within 90 days, released in $10 increments.

This is the argument that decides where you play a series.

Satellite qualification is a volume game. You don't win a $5,000 seat by firing one qualifier — you fire twenty cheap ones and expect most to fail. That volume generates rake, and rake generates cashback, and cashback buys the next twenty satellites. The loop only works if the cashback rate is real.

Both rooms restrict certain countries, and the lists differ.
