2011 Retrospective – Part 7

Marsha Wolak won the $1,000 Ladies NLHE event, defeating Karina Jett heads-up. As was the case in 2010, male entrants also participated in the event this year, too, to the dismay of many. Jonathan Epstein even made it to the final table.

In the famous $50,000 Poker Players Championship (WSOP Event #55), Phil Hellmuth lost his third HU battle in WSOP 2011, this time against Brian Rast.

PLO World Champion Ben Lamb managed well in the WSOP Main Event as well, taking the lead from Phil Hellmuth in the contest for the Player of the Year title by Day 6. Finally, he did become PoY.

For the first time in the history of WSOP Main Events, a Czech player made it to the November Nine; Martin Staszko was to start the finale in the chiplead with 40,175,000. Phil Collins and Ben Lamb were to sit down to the final table, too.

Andreas ‘skjervoy’ Torbergsen finished the month with close to $0.5 million in profit, qualifying as the biggest online high stakes winner in July. ‘Isildur1’ was the runner-up and ‘verve.oasis’ followed in the 3rd place.
