Raabs Pokernacht (Raas's Poker Night), the poker-themed TV show jointly produced by RTL and GGPoker, debuted on February 27 in RTL's late-night slot, but its first episode struggled to attract viewers. The show drew only 450,000 viewers, a notably low figure for RTL.
Stefan Raab's Return and the Show's Concept
Stefan Raab, one of Germany's most well-known television personalities from the 2000s, retired in 2015. His return to television last year made headlines when RTL secured his comeback with a €90 million contract. Raab initially reappeared with a boxing match against Regina Halmich, followed by the launch of the quiz show Du gewinnst hier nicht die Million bei Stefan Raab.
Raabs Pokernacht was developed through a collaboration between RTL and GGPoker. The show features a €100,000 prize pool, where celebrities compete at the poker table, alongside one amateur player who earns their seat through GGPoker’s online qualifiers.
The February episode featured guests including Raab's longtime collaborator, Elton, as well as Jana Wosnitza, Laura Karasek, Rúrik Gíslason, and Ralf Möller.
Disappointing Viewership and an Uncertain Future
Despite RTL’s high expectations, Raabs Pokernacht only managed a 4.7% market share, significantly below the channel's average. Among the 14-59 age demographic, the show secured just an 8.1% share, which is also considered underwhelming.
Although RTL initially planned six episodes, the show's weak start raises questions about its future. The episode was recorded on February 21 in Hürth and became available for streaming on RTL+ following its television broadcast.
