Partypoker Brings New SPINS Format to Poker Tables
We’ve passed the year’s halfway mark, and many online poker rooms are making changes to ensure a fun second half of 2023. After PokerStars changed its Spins format to deliver more balanced payouts, we were excited to see partypoker also offering a change to their popular lottery-style sit-and-go product.
Quiet Introduction
Partypoker hasn’t officially introduced the new format, but players will see the SPINS Overdrive has replaced the usual SPINS page on the brand’s site. This change tells us we can look forward to an exciting overhaul of their SPINS format, which hasn’t significantly changed over the last four years.
However, not everything is different, as the basics remain the same. The base game remains a three-handed sit & go, which features a random prize pool at the beginning. The multipliers continue to cover an extensive range, from as low as 2x your buy-in to as high as 240,000x. Further, the rake remains between 5% and 8%, depending on your buy-in.
New Features
Unlike PokerStars, which mainly changed the multipliers and payout structure, partypoker also changed the blind system and starting stacks.
Starting Stack
Players can enjoy exciting, dynamic chip stacks with the new Overdrive format. The game’s multiplier will determine the chip stacks, so as you get higher multipliers, you receive more chips. The brand used to fix it at 500 with the SPINS format, but now it can range between 300 and 1,000.
Blind Structure
Along with the chip stacks, blind levels will also adjust to align with your starting stack. Each minute will see a blind increase if you play with low multipliers like 2x and 3x the buy-in. However, this increase will slow to every five minutes with higher multipliers like 120x and up.
Payouts
Same as the standard format, low multiplier wins will be winner-takes-all. However, starting from mid-tier multipliers, it’ll change to the top two players will take all. If your multipliers go even higher, at 25x and up, then the top three players will receive prizes. The top three players are guaranteed prizes at the highest multiplier levels of 120x and up.
Multipliers and Buy-In
As the payouts shift, the probability of landing specific multipliers also changes. Less 2x multiplier prizes will land, which results in incrementally higher prize pools starting at 2.01x, 2.02x, and up. The buy-ins also range from $0.25 to $100, with eight levels available. Prizes can go up to $1 million, though the brand might remove the Ultra option previously available when implementing the Overdrive format.
Take Part in the Action
Many poker rooms are tweaking their lottery-style sit & go format to deliver a new and fresh perspective. Partypoker is one of the recent brands to make the changes and will likely continue to adjust it until they officially announce it.
However, you can try the new SPINS Overdrive format and use our exclusive partypoker $8,000 rake race to boost your experience. Available in July and August, a 5% to 15% rake chase joins our exciting rake race and is available for anyone who signs up and links their partypoker account with RakeRace.com.
