While 2024 may have seemed like a quiet year on the surface for PartyPoker, the operator was hard at work behind the scenes strengthening its anti-cheating protocols. According to newly released data, PartyPoker shut down 291 fraudulent accounts and redistributed $71,771 to affected players—its largest recovery amount since 2020. This marks a significant jump from 2023, when only 214 accounts were closed and $32,433 was returned.
PartyPoker’s Bot-Fighting Track Record
PartyPoker has long been one of the most transparent online poker rooms when it comes to publishing detailed statistics on account closures due to cheating, botting, or use of real-time assistance (RTA). Since initiating public reporting in late 2018, the site has now removed over 2,500 fraudulent accounts, returning more than $2 million to players.
Year | Accounts Closed | Total Seized Funds | Avg. Per Account |
---|---|---|---|
2020 | 608 | $462,541 | $761 |
2021 | 322 | $47,344 | $147 |
2022 | 276 | $26,173 | $95 |
2023 | 214 | $32,433 | $152 |
2024 | 291 | $71,771 | $247 |
The 2024 stats stand out not just for the rise in activity, but for the sharp increase in average recovered funds per account, which nearly doubled compared to the previous year.
The Role of AI — A Double-Edged Sword
One factor potentially driving these numbers is the increasing sophistication and accessibility of poker bots and GTO solvers. As artificial intelligence tools become more prevalent, some players may be tempted to exploit them.
However, the same technological advancements are also bolstering PartyPoker’s detection capabilities. Machine learning algorithms, behavioral analysis, and large-scale hand history reviews have made it possible to spot even the most subtle forms of cheating. The operator has stated its confidence in keeping pace with evolving threats.
2025 Off to a Slower Start
Despite the aggressive stance in 2024, the first quarter of 2025 showed a slowdown. Only 40 accounts were banned, and just over $2,700 was redistributed—the lowest figures reported for a Q1 period since the site began publishing these metrics. For comparison, Q1 of 2024 saw 103 closures, albeit with slightly lower total recovered funds.
Ongoing Transparency and Industry Collaboration
PartyPoker continues to lead the industry in transparency around cheating and bot detection. It remains the only major operator to publish annual bot and account closure statistics consistently, whereas other platforms—such as PokerStars, GGPoker, and 888poker—have shared such data only sporadically.
The operator’s dedication to fairness extended beyond reporting. In the second half of 2024, it released a series of in-depth blog posts on Game Integrity topics. These included interviews with the internal team, insights into detection methods, and even calls for cross-operator collaboration in tackling fraud.
“I wouldn’t even be opposed to telling other operators exactly how to do statistical analysis to highlight bot rings,” said Juha Pasanen, Head of Game Integrity at PartyPoker. “We’re all in this together.”
The company also reaffirmed its policy of banning online cheaters from live events, a stance that aligns with similar measures from PokerStars and GGPoker. Ahead of the 2025 PartyPoker Tour launch in London, a new blog post reinforced that players caught cheating online would be blacklisted from all PartyPoker live venues—and vice versa.
A Long-Term Commitment to Clean Poker
With over 2,540 fraudulent accounts closed since 2018 and more than $2 million in returned funds, PartyPoker has positioned itself as a leader in online poker integrity. The 2024 results are a testament to its evolving detection tools and unwavering stance against unethical play.
Even with a quieter live scene and reduced marketing activity last year, the operator remained focused on cleaning up its ecosystem. Whether through enhanced AI-driven investigations or community reports, PartyPoker’s message is clear: cheating will not be tolerated, and players can expect a fairer environment moving forward.
