GGPoker has raised the bar in the online poker sector yet again. The $5,000 WSOP Online Main Event has broken records for a second year, now the largest online poker tournament ever.
GGPoker has achieved extraordinary success by building on its current market strength.
Record-Breaking Participation and Prize Pool
$25 Million Guarantee Surpassed
GGPoker not only met the $25 million guarantee but exceeded it greatly. With a remarkable 6,146 entries, the tournament raised the prize pool to an excellent $29.1 million.
This number beats last year's benchmark of 6,023 entries alongside a $28.6 million prize pool. It also tops the guarantee by 17%.
Historic Number of Entries
This year's Day 1 flights, numbering 17, were fewer than the 20 from last year. However, the event attracted more participants. 123 more people attended than the year before. Strategically placed over a month, the first flight took place weeks ago.
By Saturday's arrival, submissions totalled 4,645, still a little under the guarantee. Still, a boost on Sunday led to 684 entries being added. So, the concluding flight on Monday achieved a commendable 817 entries.
Strategic Scheduling and Final Push
There was a reason for the last-minute influx of participants. Before the finale, GGPoker created urgency by spacing out Day 1 flights. This ultimately galvanised the poker community. This strategic approach facilitated the meeting of the guarantee. It also contributed to the new record.
Only four events are remaining in the final week of the WSOP Online bracelet series. So far, nearly $90 million in prize money has been granted. And the series is likely to surpass $105 million across 33 events.
Historic Payouts and New Millionaires
An enormous prize pool resulted in entirely unprecedented payouts. Moritz Dietrich from Germany claimed a top prize totalling more than $4 million. It represents the most important single payout in online poker history.
The next five players took away at least $1 million. This produced six millionaires from just this event—a new record. The $16 million raised at the closing table accounted for 54% of the full prize pool.
GGPoker's Dominance in Online Poker History
GGPoker continues to redefine online poker. It now holds the top four spots for the largest prize pools from the WSOP Online Main Event. The event has grown consistently since earning an official Guinness World Record in 2020.
Over five editions, these tournaments have generated over $129 million in prize pools, with over 27,000 entrants and 22 millionaires created. These achievements highlight GGPoker's commitment to elevating the online poker experience.
