Sunday Million Live Returns After 9 Years with €1M Guaranteed at Casino di Campione

PokerStars is bringing the legendary Sunday Million back to the live poker tables for only the second time in the tournament's history. Nearly nine years after its debut live edition, the €1 million guaranteed event will take place from October 2 to 12 at the PokerStars poker room inside Italy's Casino di Campione.

The tournament is part of PokerStars' 25th anniversary celebrations and will also mark the first time a live Sunday Million is hosted in Italy.

Hybrid Format Combines Online and Live Day 1 Flights

The Sunday Million Live will feature a €250 buy-in, the maximum tournament entry fee currently permitted under Italian gaming regulations. Like the inaugural live edition in 2017, the event will use a hybrid format, allowing players to qualify through both online and live Day 1 flights.

Three online starting flights are scheduled for September 13, 20, and 27, while six live Day 1s will be played at Casino di Campione on October 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, and 9.

The top 12.5% of each flight will advance to Day 2 and lock up a minimum cash prize of €500.

Players who have already qualified for Day 2 will not be allowed to enter another starting flight, although those who fail to advance can make additional attempts in later flights.

Online qualifiers will travel to Campione for Day 2, which will be split into Day 2A and Day 2B on October 10. Day 3 follows on October 11, with the final table scheduled for October 12.

First Live Edition Was Held in 2017

The original live Sunday Million took place in 2017 at King's Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. That event also used a hybrid structure and featured a €220 buy-in.

It attracted 5,045 entries, falling just short of covering the €1 million guarantee and resulting in an overlay of approximately €50,000.

Since then, the Sunday Million brand has expanded into several regulated markets, including Italy, but has remained exclusively an online tournament until now.

A Highlight of PokerStars' Anniversary Year

The return of Sunday Million Live is one of the flagship events celebrating PokerStars' 25th anniversary. Earlier this year, the operator also hosted its $50 million guaranteed Anniversary Series, which ultimately finished with an overlay exceeding $3 million.

PokerStars has not yet announced whether additional side events or a full festival schedule will accompany the main event. Even so, the €1 million guaranteed Sunday Million Live is already shaping up to be one of Europe's most anticipated live poker tournaments of 2026.
