GGPoker’s Ambitious $250 Million World Festival Series
GGPoker continues to impress, and its latest announcement has players sitting up in their seats. The Spring World Festival Series is back, bigger than ever, with a $50 million increase guaranteed. That’s right, the tournament offers an overall guarantee of $250 million this year, breaking its record again.
2024 Spring World Festival Series
Tongues are wagging as the largest global poker room announced another impressive series. This new series yet again breaks poker records. In 2023, the poker room broke the record for the biggest online tournament.
Their overall guarantee overtook PokerStars’ record in 2021. Still, the total prize pool awarded only managed to break PokerStars’ record in 2023. However, since they overtook the room, this brand has shown that it deserves the title “Poker King.”
Format and Buy-Ins
The 2024 World Festival will begin on May 5th and run until June 11th. Daniel Negreanu, the brand’s global ambassador, is excited about this year and states they’ll “continue our tradition of revolutionising poker year-on-year!”
The tournament will have four buy-in tiers, ensuring that players of any bankroll can participate. While not much is known about the schedule and events yet, the buy-in tiers are as follows:
- Low: $2.50 and up
- Mid: $25 and up
- High: $150 and up
- Super: $1,050 and up
Each tier has a leaderboard, boasting a 6x increase in prize money, with $2.5 million up for grabs.
What We Know of the Events
The brand hasn’t yet released any information on the events, but we can speculate based on past events. We’ll likely see at least two $10 million events, with the odds leaning towards it being an NLH Main Event and maybe a Mystery Bounty tournament.
Otherwise, many other events will probably boast slightly increased guarantees and small tweaks.
Record-Breaking Tournaments
GGPoker has made a name for itself as a poker room that challenges the impossible. They’ve set new benchmarks in the industry, the latest of which is this $250 million series. Its 2023 festival attracted over 3 million entries, paying out $239 million over the series’ events.
That’s $39 million more than the event’s guaranteed prize pool. The poker room set the record as the only room with an online tournament with a guaranteed prize pool above $150 million.
Five Most Significant Online Tournaments Ever
Four of the five biggest poker tournaments belong to GGPoker, while one is PokerStars’ SCOOP 2020. However, the 2020 SCOOP event guaranteed $135 million and an overall payout of $185 million.
Meanwhile, GGPoker has boasted a guarantee of $150 million in the GGSF 2021, $170 million in the GGOC 2022, and $200 million in the GGWF 2023. The fifth-place tournament is also a GGPoker title, the WSOP Online Bracelet Series, with a $66 million guarantee.
