Record Turnout at WSOP 2011 - Largest World Series Ever

Despite the early predictions, this year's World Series of Poker turned out to be the largest in history. The 42nd annual WSOP, with a record-breaking 75,672 entries and 58 events created the largest prize pool in the history of the Series: $191,999,010. 6865 players registered for the Main Event, which is currently underway.

WSOP Event #56 and Event #57 - $1,500 NLHE and $5,000 Omaha H/L

The Swedish programmer Hasan Alexander Anter took down the WSOP Event #56 ( in style: he defeated his opponent with a royal flush. The Event #57 bracelet ($5,000 Omaha H/L) went to Nick Banger.

WSOP Main Event Launches Today

World Series of Poker 2011 Event #58 $10,000 NLHE Championship, commonly known as the Main Event, kicks off today at 12:00 p.m. PST. Probably the most notable poker event of the year, in 2010 it featured 7,319 entrees and Jonathan Duhamel, the champion could take home $8,944,310.

WSOP Event #54 and Event #55 - $1,000 NLHE and $50,000 Poker Players Championship

Max Lykov had the lead throughout the final table of WSOP Event #54 $1,000 NLHE, eventually defeating Dror Michaelo heads-up. In the famous $50,000 Poker Players Championship (WSOP Event #55), Phil Hellmuth lost his third HU battle in WSOP 2011, this time against Brian Rast.

WSOP Event #52 and Event #53 - $2,500 Mixed Hold'em and WSOP $1,000 Ladies NLHE

The 52nd and 53rd Events ended, Matt Matros won the $2,500 Mixed Hold'em Event for $303,501 and Marsha Wolak the $1,000 Ladies NLHE Event for $192,344. As last year, many males entered the ladies event, which caused major upheaval amongst other players.
